Keep your Mitts off

Hot Air picks on Mitt Romney for being a game-grabber. QandO points out that the Democratic field is on board, as well.

"When I am president, I will work to protect children from inappropriate video game content." -- Hillary Clinton

It doesn't take a village after all. Or even parents.

Why Mussolini?

"Freedom is about authority. Freedom is about the willingness of every single human being to cede to lawful authority a great deal of discretion about what you do." -- Rudy Giuliani

Frightening.

Why Lenin?

"I think Iowa poses a special burden, or a special obstacle to me because when you look at the numbers, how can Iowa be ranked with Mississippi? That’s not what I see. That’s not the quality. That’s not the communitarianism, that’s not the openness I see in Iowa." -- Hillary Clinton.

Now now, you might say; "communitarianism" means "community", not "communism".

From the same link: “Communitarianism springs from the recognition that the human being is by nature a social animal as well as an individual with a desire for autonomy. Communitarians recognize that a healthy society must have a correct balance between individual autonomy and social cohesion. Much recent thinking has focused on an assumed conflict between the rights of the individual and the responsibilities of the government. When you put “community” back into the equation, you find that the apparent conflict between the individual and the government can be resolved by public policies that are consistent with core American values and work to the benefit of all members of our society.”

The link describes it as Trotsky, not Lenin. No need to quibble over details.

In the news, December 21 edition

Lenin promises to redistribute money to each according to his need. To be fair, only 4 of the 5 items are redistribution.

Meanwhile, we find out that Mussolini was secretive.

Congress bans candles

Not really. But how would you feel if they did?

Obama wants to ban Chinese-made toys

Can't Americans buy whatever they want?

Interesting is his claim that he would ban the imports, not that he would ask Congress to ban the imports. Interesting, because it is an article of faith among some on the left that Bush is the dictator.
